A relationship as per the Google dictionary is defined as "the way in which two or more things or people are connected, or the state of being connected";
"the way in which two or more people or groups regards and behaves towards each other" and,
"an emotional or sexual relationship with each other".
This is Dictionary definition of a relationship. And yes, this definition looks approriate with the current scenario. There is a relation, but no value. There is relation but that is only formal. There is a relation but, no love.
I never thought i'd write an emotional blog but i could not resist that urge to write this down after I communicated with an 18 year old boy who was sad about death of his Grandfather or more specifically, his Nanaji, and how he was unable to attend his funeral.
We study to earn, we earn to live a HAPPY life but we somehow in this race are forgetting what happiness really is. We are forgetting what relations are and leading our lives to absolute solitude.
Let me begin with the story about this boy: he is from Jaipur, he has completed his schooling and is now preparing for IIT-JEE and other engineering exams in Kota, away from his family. Today, he said he was said. When i pried the reason, he cried it out.
-- He said that his nanaji expired the day before, and his funeral was earlier today.
As he said, he was very close to his Nanaji, he also told me a story when his Nana screamed his name after he saw him and how he mistook his elder brother to be a sweeper.
When i asked whether he attended his funeral or not - he said he could'nt. He gave me two reasons for that - first was that he was informed about the death and funeral after the funeral was over. Second reason was that he was not free for a 10 Hour journey back to Jaipur to attend the same.
This conversation reminded me of another conversation in which the story was more or less the same only places and persons were different.
This 18 year old boy later admitted that he was not in much contact with his Grandfather, his Nanaji because of his studies and tuitions. And now, that he is in Kota - India's centre for IIT-JEE preparation, he could not even attend the funeral of that old man.
For me, i never got a chance to see my Grandfather. He died 7 years before i was born. I do not know what it feels like to be a Grandson and what is love of a Grandfather. I never respected what relationships i have. But this little conversation with this teen, changed my perception.
